Log Files
As do most other websites, I collect and use the data contained in log files. The information in the log files includes your IP (internet protocol) address, your ISP (Internet service provider), the browser you used to visit the site, the time you visited the site and which pages you visited throughout the site.
Cookies and Web Beacons
If you register for an account on the site, Wordpress will use a cookie to store your account information and settings. Direct user registration on this site is currently disabled (though if you have an existing account, you may still use it), but signing in to the site with OpenID or Persona will create an account, and this section applies. The site is entirely Wordpress-based, and doesn't use cookies for any other purpose. This page explains exactly how Wordpress uses cookies. You can chose to disable or selectively turn off this site's cookies or third-party cookies in your browser settings, or by various other methods. However, this can affect how you are able to interact with this site as well as other websites. This could include the inability to login to services or programs, such as logging into forums or accounts.
Recaptcha
I use Google's Recaptcha service on the comment form for blog posts. So far as I know, Google's general privacy and other policies apply to use of Recaptcha; it does not appear to have a specific privacy policy. If you fill out the Recaptcha form, Google will be sent your IP address (reference). If you wish to avoid this, you can sign in to this site, and you will no longer need to fill out the Recaptcha form to submit your comment. Thanks to JenSense for this privacy policy template.
