Mono to ship in minor distribution, none dead

See topic. Sorry, mono is in Fedora Core now, why are we supposed to be excited again? It's not like anyone's said it's going to ship in RHEL, which is where Red Hat's real muscle lies, to them FC is a bone thrown to the "community". MDV and SUSE have shipped mono for several releases now and Ubuntu I believe will have it in the next release, and IMHO those three distros are a heck of a lot more important than FC (but not more important than RHEL, although possibly together they are). Not getting the hype. Oh well.

It's probably more the fact that it's in Fedora "main". It's in Mandriva contrib, and isn't supported and we don't "ship" it (it isn't on any CDs) - it also has no chance in hell of getting moved to main any time soon it seems.

FC is an important "distro" too IMO. See the recent netcraft survey about Linux distribution share among web servers : http://news.netcraft.com/archives/2005/12/05/strong_growth_for_debian.html

Ah, yes, web servers, the stronghold of Mono development. Oops...wait. :) zero: well, to me, the entirety of Fedora is "Red Hat contrib". Red Hat is their serious distro. If mono was going to be in RHEL, THAT would be big news. It being in Fedora is approximately equivalent to it being in Mandriva contrib, IMHO.
